Home Office confirms Tier 4 sponsorship through distance or blended learning

The Home office has updated Coronavirus (COVID-19): Tier 4 sponsors, migrants and short-term students guidance (16 June 2020). There have been some welcome changes including concessions on Distance Learning.

Distance Learning:

Tier 4 sponsors can start sponsoring new students who will be studying through distance or blended learning in the 2020-2021 academic year, provided you intend to transition to face-to-face learning as soon as it is possible to do so. Clarification by the Home office has yet to be given on when the 2020-2021 academic year begins and ends.

This Distance Learning concession will be subject to regular monitoring to ensure it is working as intended.

It is important to note that If a student stops engaging with their distance learning, whether overseas or in the UK, sponsors must withdraw sponsorship immediately.
